Pet Clip (Lamb Trim)
The most popular pet style — the body is clipped short and even (typically #4 or #5 blade), the face, feet, and tail base are closely shaved clean, and the tail tip is left as a rounded pompom. Low-maintenance, practical, and widely flattering.

Continental Clip
The traditional show cut with shaved hindquarters, rosettes over the hips, bracelets at the ankles, a full mane on the chest and shoulders, and a pompom tail. Requires professional skill and weekly maintenance brushing to prevent mats in the full sections.

Teddy Bear Clip
The entire coat is scissored to a consistent 1–2 inch length with slightly rounded, fluffy shaping to give a soft, plush appearance. The face is left with more length than a standard pet clip for a rounder, more youthful look. Very popular for pet Poodles.

Care Tips
- Never let a Standard Poodle go beyond 8 weeks between grooms — the curly coat grows fast and without regular clipping, mats form against the skin that require shaving the entire coat to remove.
- Brush the full coat at least every other day at home between professional grooms — a slicker brush followed by a metal comb all the way to the skin is the only acceptable standard; surface brushing only masks developing mats.
- Poodles are prone to ear infections because their curly coat grows into the ear canal — have your groomer pluck the ear canal hair and clean the ears at every appointment.
- The Standard Poodle's webbed feet and athletic build mean they need nail trims every 3–4 weeks; long nails on an active dog cause joint misalignment and affect their natural gait.
- Poodles can experience skin irritation from certain shampoos — use a pH-balanced, hypoallergenic shampoo and avoid products with artificial fragrances, which are a common trigger for Poodle skin sensitivities.
