Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever — affectionately called the 'Toller' — is the smallest of the retriever breeds, originally bred in Nova Scotia to lure and retrieve waterfowl. Their medium-length, water-repellent double coat ranges from golden red to dark coppery red, often with white markings, and is dense and water-resistant for cold-water work. The coat is lower-maintenance than many retrievers — it sheds moderately and its natural oils resist dirt and matting — but requires regular brushing, particularly around the feathering on the neck, legs, and tail.
