The Jack Russell Terrier is a bold, energetic working terrier developed for fox hunting in England. The breed comes in three coat varieties: smooth, broken (rough patches with a smooth base), and rough. Smooth coats need minimal professional attention, while broken and rough coats benefit significantly from hand stripping, which maintains the correct harsh texture and pattern.

Cuts & Styles
A bath, blow-dry, nail trim, and ear clean for the smooth-coated variety. Very low maintenance — the smooth coat requires no stripping or trimming.
Dead outer coat is removed by hand or with a stripping knife, not cut. Maintains the proper harsh, weather-resistant texture and correct terrier markings of the broken coat variety.
An ongoing maintenance method for broken and rough coats where dead guard hairs are stripped in stages over several months, keeping the coat in continuous condition rather than letting it fully blow and then fully strip.
A tidy-up bath and scissor trim for younger dogs, or for broken-coat dogs whose owners prefer clipping over hand stripping. Note that clipping gradually softens the wiry coat texture.
