American Cocker Spaniel

The American Cocker Spaniel is the smaller, more stylized cousin of the English Cocker, and is famous for its profuse, silky, flowing coat — one of the most elaborate in the spaniel family. Their coat requires very serious maintenance: the long, wavy body coat and extensive leg and ear feathering mat rapidly without daily brushing, and professional grooming every 4–6 weeks is genuinely non-negotiable to keep the coat in good condition. The Cocker's long, pendulous ears are also a major health consideration, as they create a warm, dark, airless environment ideal for chronic ear infections.
