A rabbit (and cat) coat mutation where guard hairs are the same length as undercoat, creating a plush, velvety texture that stands upright from the body. Found in Mini Rex and Rex rabbits.
Rex coats require gentler grooming tools — wire slicker brushes can break the delicate plush texture.
Use a rubber grooming glove or curry comb on rex coats rather than stiff wire brushes.
