Skin irritation caused by clipper blades that are too hot, moving too slowly, or used against the grain on sensitive areas. Appears as red, raw patches typically in sanitary areas or armpits.
Painful for the pet and can become infected. Preventable with proper blade maintenance, cooling spray, and correct technique.
Use a #10 blade for sensitive areas, keep blades oiled and cool, and clip in the direction of hair growth on thin-skinned areas.
